Mirror Dash Cam Buying Guide

Mirror Dash Cam Buying Guide

Mirror dash cams combine a rear-view mirror display with driving cameras, giving you a single place for live camera views and recorded footage. This guide explains what to check before buying and how our current mirror dash cam is configured.

What is a mirror dash cam?

A mirror dash cam uses a display built into or replacing the rear-view mirror area. Depending on the system, it can show a front camera, rear camera, recorded footage, or a live rear view.

Features worth comparing

  • Front and rear video resolution
  • Display size and viewing angle
  • Included rear camera
  • Loop recording
  • G-sensor event recording
  • Parking mode
  • Wi-Fi or mobile playback
  • Supported memory-card capacity
  • Mounting and wiring requirements

Our current mirror dash cam

The Master Tailgaters 10" 1080p Mirror Dash Cam + Backup Camera combines a 10-inch IPS mirror display with 1080p front and rear recording.

  • 1080p front recording
  • 1080p rear / backup camera
  • 10-inch IPS display
  • Loop recording
  • G-sensor
  • Parking mode
  • Wi-Fi playback
  • Supports microSD cards up to 64 GB

Rear-camera compatibility

The included rear camera is designed to work with the system. This model does not support third-party RCA backup cameras, so do not assume an existing RCA camera can be connected.

Before installation

  • Confirm the mirror mounting arrangement in your vehicle.
  • Plan the power and rear-camera wiring route.
  • Confirm that the display and wiring will not obstruct driver visibility, airbags, controls, or safety equipment.
  • Review the installation instructions before removing trim panels.

Mirror dash cam vs. standard dash cam

A traditional dash cam typically mounts separately on the windshield. A mirror dash cam integrates the display into the mirror area, which can reduce dashboard clutter and provide a larger live rear-camera view. The better option depends on your vehicle, installation preference, and whether you want a large rear-view display.
